[The day finds Dist outside House One in the shade, back leaned up against one side of the house. He's without his usual collared coat, and the red undershirt he wore had its sleeves rolled up as well. Scattered around Dist's feet are about a dozen small, simple toys that he created. Much of them were just little wind-up dolls made to look like fonbots and even a cheagle or two. There were others, however, that were a little more detailed - much like a miniature model of his Kaiser Dist that actually flew for a few seconds when wound up and released, and an ornate music box that opened up like a blossoming flower, and played a gentle melody.

Dist had suddenly just gotten the urge to pick up loose metals and gears at the shops while out, and came back home to immediately start working. He had wanted to try and recreate his beautiful assault mechs or his flying chair, but that was out of the question with the lack of proper materials, and fonons, here in Luceti. Right now, he was finishing up a little wind-up rappig that walked and twitched its nose. Putting it amongst the others, Dist wipes his face with the back of his hand and picks up his journal.]

Ah, w-would anyone like a small, simple toy? I've had a sudden...urge to build things, and this is all I can manage with the limited technology available here. Obviously, a grown man like myself has no use for child's toys, so if you want one, speak up or arrive to House One immediately. I won't wait all day in this atrocious heat.

...I can custom make something if I think you deserve it as well. I'm not running a charity for unruly urchins!

Yes and no. It's a joy not being so involved in work I'd rather not be bothered with, but "idle hands" and all that... I'm keeping busy when I can.

I see. Enjoyment in Luceti seems to be based on a coin toss. Either you get heads and have everything you need to have fun while in captivity, or you get tails and you have absolutely nothing.

[His lip curls up and her grins slowly.] Hopefully those without a means of entertainment have the knowledge to seek out something to do. All manner of things can be acquired if one works for it.

[He clears his throat, looking away from his journal.] It was all I could do with only loose metals and supplies! Plus, I don't think my housemates would really approve of my making weapons, you see.

[Dist actually chuckles to himself at the little sound and closes his journal, none the wiser. It was a girl he spoke to, obviously, so Dist arranged the toys more suitable for young ladies and unisex forward.

When he hears her approaching, the older man looks up from working on another little creation slowly.]

Not large at all. Most fit right in your hand, but they're not very intricate at all. ...Are you interested in having one, Winry?

[Watching Dist play with his toys has been oddly refreshing. Nephry hasn't felt any particular creative urges herself...yet.]

[vhhdhd He is not playing with them! He just...has to test them! Y-Yes, exactly!! Make sure they're safe and all that. Dist looks at Nephry, then at the little wind-up rappig and scowls.]

Hopefully with these, he'll keep the real thing, or childish imitations, out of the house.

[Dist tightens a screw on one of his little creations, averting his eyes from Nephry for the moment. The last they spoke ended unpleasantly, and he was feeling a bit awkward for his behavior before, though he does answer her question.]

...It has been a long time. [A pause, as he pushes up his glasses.] Well, considering how I seem to be rather inspired today, you may see much of it. And I am and always will be a fontechnician as well as a researcher.

[Instantly pinged, Dist almost drops his journal. A jovial smile lights up his face at the thought. He hadn't made anything for the Professor since he was little, and his skills were nothing like they were now. Now, here, he had the chance to showcase his talents.]

Y-Yes, of course, Professor! Do you have anything specific in mind? I can make you anything you desire.

[Gelda's very interested to see how much Dist's improved, of course. Aside from that, she just wants something to display in the living room. A cute little souvenir, so to speak.]

[A cheagle? He had a few little wind-ups of those already, but... No. They'd never do for the Professor. They were too simple. He'd make something much better. And he was already formulating just how to do so in his mind, what materials to use, how it'd move... The creative spark was bright indeed.]

I'll have it done as soon as possible. Would you like me to drop it off when it's finished, professor? Or would you like to pick it up?

At the moment, only simple things. Though these are mere trinkets made from spare metals and parts. I have ideas for other, more elegant creations as well. [Though even if he says that, they're all well made. Dist Moves his journal so the little window showcases some of the toys. Most of them are clockwork dolls and wind-up toys.]

Anything specific you have in mind?

I was thinking of something that a six- or seven-year-old girl might enjoy-- perhaps some sort of doll. I would need two of them, if it isn't too much trouble.
