Fourteen Rose Petals Fall - [Accidental Voice]

[It was a crash of thunder and lightning that first woke him up. It was also that crash of thunder and lightning that told Saphir that he was definitely not where he should be. It never rained in Keterburg, just snowed almost constantly. He'd never really experienced anything like a lightning storm before either, so needless to say he's very terrified by the booming sounds above, and the streaks of lightning as they flash overhead. Each one makes him jump, and choke out a loud gasp and cry.

Not only that, but he's horribly dressed for this weather and shivering pretty badly. Was this some kind of prank or something?! Peony was always pulling pranks on him, and making Jade do it, too! Jade would never do anything like this if Peony didn't instigate it in the first place. He was Saphir's best friend, after all! But still, Jade and Peony couldn't have taken him to some place other than Keterburg or, at the very least, the harbor. There was just no way, and the Professor would never allow it. Something was clearly not right about the place he now found himself in...

Thankfully, though now soggy and rather wet, there was an odd book of sorts next to him when he woke up. It even had his name on it, though the language was strange...different from the usual fonic language he knew, and even ancient Ispanian that the Professor taught in some of her lessons. Still, the book was some kind of fontech device, and the young boy clung desperately to it, as if it were his only lifeline as he puttered through the village plaza, huddling in a nook between some of the shops. He curled up there, shivering, scared, and confused.]

J-Jade... [He sniffled, a whine quickly dissolving into quiet sobs.] P-Professor? Where...where are you?! I-I don't know where I am! Peony, i-if this is a joke, i-it's not funny! I-I'll tell the Professor, I'll--! J-Jade...uuh...





[OOC: So basically, Dist is his tiny, cute, and snuffly kid self. He's just nine years old, quite a crybaby, but pretty decent compared to his older self. He'll probably be small for at most two weeks, probably. All tags will be from minifontaku, as well. |Db]

[Where did that voice come from? Saphir looks up, startled, and tried to look through the gloom for someone. It sounded like it was right next to him, but there was no one. And the person - a girl - said something weird. Dist? Who was that?]

Wh-Who's there?! I can't see you!

Book? [The one he was holding? Saphir peeks it open, and squeaks when a particularly loud boom makes him duck his head and hold the book close. He shakes for an entirely different reason than just the chill, and looks into the book again.] Wh-Who're you? How're you talking through the book? Where am I?! Where are Jade and the Professor a-and Nephry?!

[Clearly this is the best way to get information.]

...Luceti? [He sounds out the word carefully. It didn't sound familiar at all, and the Professor taught him about most of the places on Auldrant.]

I-I don't know where I am... There's a lot of buildings, a-and it's cold and--[Another peal of thunder overheard.]--aah! I-I want to go home!

[Kid, you are so lucky she's pretty much back to normal by now. It means she can extend him the same courtesy he gave her when she was accidentally a child]

[The next voice he hears startles him from his sniffling. Saphir was indoors now, inside the bakery, but he peeks into the weird and wonderful fontech book cautiously. He didn't know this voice, either.]

Wh-Who're you?

I'm a friend of Professor Nebilim's. You are one of her students, aren't you? You seem to have figured out the book quite well.

[Another person who knew the Professor? He wasn't really sure about this, but somewhere inside him, a bit of pride bubbled up - was the Professor talking about him to her friends? He was pretty smart with fontech, too, and this lady noticed that (even though he hadn't really taken a good look at the journal yet).]

Yes, my name's S-Saphir. I study with the Professor and Ja--...um, m-my friends.

[Then she must have talked about Jade, too. Jade was really smart. Loads smarter than he was. But still, it was nice to know he was talked about too. Slowly, he began to calm down a little, and open up just the tiniest bit.]

You, too! My best friend, Jade, is a lot smarter than me, though. But I can make fontech models that even he can't!

[Oh, thank goodness, a voice he knows. Saphir's head jerks up and immediately he feels a relief wash over him, but also anxiety and fear. Would he get in trouble? He did wander off with Jade when the Professor told him not to... So, when he speaks, his voice is high-pitched and fast.]

Professor! Professor, I don't know where I am! I-I followed after Jade a-and then I woke up in this weird p-place! I don't...I don't like it here! I want to go home! I-I'm s-s-sorry I went after J-Jade...I w-want to go home!

[Gelda knows that of all the people here, Saphir will trust her the most. Nephry may be one of his closest friends, but at the moment, she isn't exactly as recognizable as Saphir would need her to be and telling him the truth may not be in his best interest. Which leaves the question if anyone else will be able to look after him until he's back to normal. Not that Gelda would mind mothering him for a week or two- not at all.

Well, first things first.]

It's alright, Saphir. Calm down. I'll come find you. Where are you now?

[Wait, she was coming? Where was she? Where was this place? The lady he talked to before said it was...Luceti? Yeah. And she was coming to get him, too, but...well. He'd be lying if he said he didn't want Gelda to come pick him up instead.]

I-I think it's a bakery... Professor, I talked to someone else! She said she was gonna come get me, a-and she knew you! Is Nephry really here, too?! Is Jade here? Where are you, Professor?

[Oh lord, so many questions. Well, at least Saphir's inside, instead of out in that cold. Gelda's already snatching her coat.]

I'm on my way right now, Saphir. How about you have a seat and wait for me? I shouldn't be long.

O-Okay... Someone else said they'd come, too. But...I-I want to go with you, Professor.

[He didn't like waiting. Especially not when he was alone and scared, and the wind and rain outside sounded like rocks hitting the window. And the crashes. Ugh, Saphir did not like thunderstorms. He'd take a blizzard over a thunderstorm any day - he could deal with those....to a degree.]

[The voice was unfamiliar, but those names weren't. And while there might be a few new feathers still trickling in, seeing as Dist was recently kidnapped, it wasn't hard to put two and two together...]

[It's some time later that Saphir actually replies. He was most certainly going to stay with Gelda, and had thus changed and dried off. When he's finally peeking back into the journal, he doesn't recognize this voice.]

Yeah, I'm okay now that the Professor showed up. ...Who're you?

[Ion's relieved when he finally hears a reply back.]

I'm glad to hear it. [He smiles.] My name is Ion... I'm a friend of Jade and Nephry. Would you mind telling me your name?

[A friend of Jade and Nephry? Who wasn't him or Peony? Huh, he'd have to ask Nephry about it later.]

[Hm, well, at least people around here have good manners. Though with all these people talking to him over the book and in person...it's strange. Not a lot of people usually spoke to him.]

It's nice, um, to meet you, too... [Even if it wasn't in person.] I got really wet, but the Professor took me to get new clothes, then I went to her friends' house and took a bath, then we had supper at her other friends' house.
