One Rose Petal Falls - [Action | Accidental Voice]

[One of the newest arrivals finds himself laying face first on the cool forest floor, groaning. His body ached all over, but Dist was sure that came with being shot at by a monstrous replica. One that he himself had unleashed. Ugh, what an idiot he was, to let himself grow so desperate and crazed and release that thing, only to have it kill him in the end. That had broke much more than just a few ribs. ...Well, at least it's not raining.

The white haired man musters up all the strength he has remaining and pushes himself up into a kneeling position. He removes his broken glasses and 'tsks' at them. Useless... The glass was broken. Damn that...that impostor! Dist winces and massages his chest. Most of the pain was fading there, but, oddly, his back hurt the most.

Before inspecting why - he just tacked it on to being dead - he cranes his head up and looks around at the trees around him, scowling.]

Tsk, this isn't exactly what I had envisioned of Hell. Fire and brimstone and all that... Agh, damn this pai--[Dist hisses and recoils his hand quickly as it passes over his shoulder and brushed up against his wings. His eyes widen and a bitter smirk spreads on his lips as he looks over his shoulder and spies his wings.] Well, now. This certainly is a surprise. Someone's idea of a joke, perhaps, if even Hell won't take me.

[Again, this ties in to what he heard elsewhere in the numerous conversations he's having presently. But--no. There's no way. It's just impossible.] How...is that even possible? There cannot be a technology so advanced it can do such a thing. Nor the presence of worlds existing outside one's own. It's not been proven.

[Oh, that gets quite a reaction from the older man.] And for what purpose was I kidnapped, then? I of course have many qualities worth noting, but my services cannot be so easily earned.

[voice]

Just because you cannot prove it doesn't make it nonexistent. Many beings aren't yet at the point where they can reach the level of power it takes to travel through different fragments. For some it can take a minute to learn and for others it can take centuries.

As for why you were kidnapped, I'll tell you the same thing I was told -- experimentation. Perhaps likening Luceti to a bird cage is incorrect. It's more like a mice cage. You and I are just two of the hundreds of mice.

[Dist chuckles, and smirks.] You may be correct, but what makes something real? Is it not when there are people there to believe it is real? I cannot believe the existence of something until it is proven to me. It's in my nature.

... [His smirk fades, and is replaced with an icy glare off to the side somewhere. Though he's done experimentation on monsters and humans alike, Dist is definitely not pleased to know he's the test subject now.] Tsk, what cruel irony... I suppose it cannot be helped, if we are truly prisoners here. [Though he'll do his damnedest to escape, of course. Or find a way.]

What is your name, my dear? I can't go about calling you "nameless voice", correct~?

[voice]

[identity profile] kakeravoyager.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The classic devil proof. We don't know whether time travel is real or not because we've never seen it happen. Of course, such a trifling riddle doesn't work for a voyager witch. Still I can understand your skepticism. So many beings rely on it as a crutch and even an escape rope.

My name is Bernkastel, if you must know. And what of you?

[voice]

[identity profile] its-rose-damnit.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Excuse me? Oh, he doesn't exactly like your tone anymore. Dist is now huffing. Figures - he tries to be honest and polite and people take a snarky tone with him. Why does he even bother?] I am merely being rational. Though here, it seems that is going to be tested rather frequently. ...What a joy, really.

Mm. Dist the Rose, genius fontechnician and researcher of the planet Auldrant, if you are not from my world.

[voice]

[identity profile] kakeravoyager.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bern isn't one of those people who care about the tone you take with her. So she won't be making an apologies or what not.] And I am merely being honest. Still, you must be startled to realize that you're in a completely new world.

[a small hum is heard] Auldrant. I can't recall ever visiting such a fragment, I'm afraid.

[voice]

[identity profile] its-rose-damnit.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, he can at least respect that much, but Dist still sounds rather indignant. He's so used to being mocked and insulted, it's almost second nature to suspect people of doing it automatically.] It is certainly shocking, yes, but I'm more perplexed than anything else. Excuse me for remaining a bit skeptical on some things, it's all so difficult to fathom.

[And that gets a raised brow.] Can I assume you are able to travel between certain worlds, then?

[voice]

[identity profile] kakeravoyager.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's an acceptable reaction. New things are always scary, aren't they? [a small giggle is heard]

And yes I can. It's one of the many common powers of a voyager witch -- one who can travel to different fragments outside their own. A different world like this isn't anything shocking.

[voice]

[identity profile] its-rose-damnit.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're unable to adapt to particular situations, I should think they'd be somewhat frightening, yes.

[Bernkastel may hear the light snapping of twigs and the shuffle as Dist take the opportunity to check himself over, more importantly those new appendages.] So I see. [Hisses as he realizes just how sensitive these things are. He looks over his shoulder and tries to move them, blinking when they flap once. Interesting...] Such things don't exist where I come from. What exactly is the purpose from traveling to different realities? What exactly do you gain, if you don't mind my asking.

[voice]

[identity profile] kakeravoyager.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Some travel to different fragments in order to gain knowledge and understanding. Others do it to spread good will. As for me, I simply do it for the sake of curing my boredom. When you've lived as long as I have you need to keep your mind occupied, less you start pulling out your hair just to engage yourself in something that doesn't numb your mind.

[voice]

[identity profile] its-rose-damnit.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. One could learn a great deal from traveling to other realities, as one does by merely traveling to other cities. Ah, can you not age, my dear? [He chuckles.] I, too, seem to busy myself frequently. I work with my hands, you see, so I prefer to be constructing various objects than merely idling for too long.

[voice]

[identity profile] kakeravoyager.livejournal.com 2010-04-23 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately I can't remember myself aging from this form. It doesn't bother me too much however. [Most beings tend to trust those who look innocent, and what better form of innocence than the appearance of a child?] So you occupy yourself by making something small into something complex? Or is that your job in life?

['This form'? Dist wants to inquire, but his thoughts are derailed entirely by the opportunity to talk about himself. A wide, proud grin spreading on his face, he almo--no, actually he is boasting.]

Haha, something like that. You see, I'm an engineer or sorts back home. A fontechnician - meaning I work with, design, and create fontech, which is an advanced form of technology from my world. Machines, basically~ I make various machines, some actually quite small, but the inner mechanisms are indeed very complex at times. And yes, it's one of my occupations - I'm the best fontechnician on my planet, a true genius!

[identity profile] kakeravoyager.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh great, a boaster. That's awesome because Bern loves it when people flaunt themselves around like they're the best thing since sliced bread. Resisting the urge to ask "Well if you're a genius, how did you get captured?"]

A fontechnician? So you can create something out of something else? Or do you also make something out of nothing.
